(what we dream of being)
“Where there is no vision, the people perish” – Proverbs 29:18
Our vision is for Maranatha Community Church to be a church that does not exist for itself, but whose very existence comes from God and from giving itself to others.
We see a church where the unchurched can experience the message of the Bible in a way that they can understand … and where the seeker may enter into a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ as both Savior and Lord.
We see a church where believers are inspired to live out an authentic relationship with God – a church made up of Christians who are not interested in just “playing church” but who are determined to develop a deeper relationship with Jesus and His people.
We see a church where evangelism is not the job of a select few, but where each and every member is devoted to reaching out to non-Christian family members, friends, neighbors and co-workers in his or her sphere of influence.
We see a church where its people are considered to be its most valued resource – a place where everyone is given the guidance, encouragement and support needed to serve God in their personal, professional and ministry lives in the unique ways He has individually designed them.
We see a church where the physical and organizational structures serve the mission and purpose of the church … and not vice versa. We envision a church where the people are the ministers, and the leadership exists to encourage, equip, and empower the people to do the ministry.
We see a church growing larger … by growing smaller. A church made up of small groups (rather than merely a church with small groups) where believers can pursue their full spiritual potential through life-transforming contact with God’s Word and His people.
We see a church that gives back to its community. Since we are commanded by Christ to be salt and light in our world, we envision a church that, as it grows, ministers more and more effectively to the specific and distinct needs of its surrounding neighborhoods.
Finally, we see a church that realizes that the most effective way to reach more people for Christ is to create new churches, and so it reproduces itself by sending out teams of people to start new works.
