PURPOSE:

The Ordinances Team assists in two areas: Baptism and Communion. This a great spot for those who are more introverted or who are looking for a low commitment volunteer.

The team assists candidates before and after baptism and assists the ministers and candidates in whatever way possible in making the baptismal service a meaningful experience for the persons being baptized. The team also prepares and cleans up communion elements for communion services.

DESCRIPTION:

Baptism Duties:
1. See that all necessary baptismal equipment and facilities are available and in order prior to each baptism.
2. Meet with the pastor and candidate(s) for a time of instructions and prayer before the baptism.
3. Meet with the person(s) to be baptized at the appointed time, and show them to their dressing rooms.
4. Answer questions that may arise and see that each candidate has a robe and towel.
5. Assist each person into and out of the pool and to the dressing room.
6. Arrange for baptismal garments, towels, and other supplies to be prepared in advance.
7. Cooperate with the pastor in evaluating the baptismal service, suggesting ways the service can be improved.

Communion Duties:
1. Identify the number of expected participants in advance of the actual communion service.
2. See that all necessary equipment and supplies are available and in order prior to each communion service.
3. Arrange for enough volunteers to administer the elements for each service.
4. Collect used communion cups and trays.
5. Note the supplies used and contact the Supplies Team about re-ordering as needed.
6. Cooperate with the pastor in evaluating the communion service, suggesting ways the service can be improved.
