Hospitality Team
Division: Spiritual Health
Group: Levites
PURPOSE:
This ministry is responsible for ensuring that every person entering the church is greeted, welcomed and encouraged to participate in various church ministries.
DESCRIPTION:
Statistics show that when properly welcomed, 50% of first time guests can be expected to return the next week, and 50% of those will probably return the third and subsequent weeks. Also, experience has shown that when newcomers become involved in the church ministries and activities, they tend to call it their “church home”.
And, since theses team members are often the first and the last impressions made by the church on its guests, this particular team is of immeasurable value!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greeters are posted at each entry point and welcome all of the guests and regular attenders with a great smile, warm handshake and a loving hello. Depending on their gender and interests, the Guests are then introduced to other members of the team known as Hosts.
- Hosts roam the church before and after the services, recognizing and assisting Guests to experience the best visit possible. Whether it regards their children, the location of the restrooms, or just general information about the church, the Host’s role is to assist the Guests feel as welcome and comfortable as possible.
- Guides work with returning Guests to find ways to assimilate them into the various ministries of the church. There are quite a few ministry roles which do not require church membership to participate, and the Guides follow up with our multi-time guests and try to encourage them to find roles which fit their gifting, passions and interests. Guides also assist these returning Guests in pursuing their “Next Steps” (baptism, membership, small groups, etc.) when they feel ready.
