Sanctuary Team
Division: Spiritual Health
Group: Levites
PURPOSE:
The Sanctuary Team prepares the environment and context for the church attenders to most effectively worship God each service. These “behind the scenes” workers make sure the sanctuary is clean and in good working order, that the resources needed for the morning’s service are fully stocked and made readily available and accessible, and work with the Pastor and Worship Leader to decorate the sanctuary.
DESCRIPTION:
Makes sure the sanctuary, at the time of the next service, is cleared of any debris or trash. The church chairs needed for that service should be properly placed in their normal setting. Any resources requested by the pastor (or guest speaker) to be placed on each chair should be placed before the service begins.
Makes sure regularly needed resources (welcome bags, older children’s resource bags, blankets, pew bibles, contact info cards, pens, donation envelopes, etc.) as well as date specific resources (handouts, object lesson props, literature, etc.) are fully stocked and properly displayed.
When resources need distributed and/or collected during the planned service, this team is responsible for “staffing” a sufficient number of volunteers to accomplish the task.
Certain members of this team are also responsible for “set design” … making sure both the platform and the sanctuary room in total are tastefully decorated for a specific holiday season, sermon series theme, or church event.
Scheduled: Weekly
Time Commitment: 30-40 minutes for room prep, random time needed for decorating
